Sainsbury's will open the doors to a new store in Urmston on Wednesday 24th June 2009, creating 246 new jobs. The 36,000 square foot supermarket, located in the Eden Square Shopping Centre features Tu clothing, home and electrical goods, bakery, café and pharmacy as well as ten self-scan checkouts for customers with only a few items.
The store will share a new two storey car park with other retailers in the shopping centre, with 450 spaces.
The Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Trafford, Councillor David Rees and his wife Wendy C Higgins, will perform red carpet duties and cut the ribbon to officially open the new supermarket at 9am on the 24th.
Store manager Simon Perry said: "We're proud of our new store but the best part of opening is getting to know the local community. It's been great meeting new people and we're looking forward to making a positive difference here. We've already started by working with the Urmston Partnership, Action for Sustainability, and local schools and nurseries. "
Doors will open at 9.00am and the first customer in store will receive a bouquet of flowers from Simon Perry.
