Alicia Douvall is well-qualified to discuss the pros and cons of cosmetic surgery. The 31-year-old has spent an estimated £1 million on plastic surgery procedures during her life and boasts cheek implants, breast implants (and reductions) and shortened toes as a result.
But following the news that 20-year-old Claudia Aderotimi tragically died after having bottom implants in the US, Alicia has spoken out about her own agony.
Alicia claims she no longer looks in the mirror and has been left horrified and in pain after her own bum implants shifted.
In an interview with Now magazine, she explained: "I bitterly regret having the op. I could've bought a house with all the money I've spent on surgery over the years. Instead, all I've got is a lot of pain and embarrassment."
Douvall says body dysmorphia is at the root of her surgery addiction, which caused her to have buttock implants after losing weight in 2006.
"It was very painful and I had to wear hideous support underwear for six months afterwards," she told Now. "But I was pleased with the results - I felt that it was £10,000 well spent.
"Then I began to notice my bum was changing shape. The left implant had moved and had started touching a nerve - the pain was excruciating."
She added: "I can't sleep on my back and I can't go to the cinema because sitting still for two hours is agony."
Thankfully, Alicia's 15-year-old daughter Georgia has no intention of following in her mother's surgically-enhanced footsteps.
"She's against me having surgery because she's seen the pain I've been in over the years," Douvall revealed. "I'm determined that with the right medication, counselling and healthy lifestyle I can finally stop going under the knife."
