Sainsbury's has today announced that it will create 20,000 new jobs in the next three years. The jobs, which are the result of the retailer's ambitious expansion plans, will be at supermarkets and convenience stores across the UK.
Justin King, Sainsbury's Chief Executive, said: "These new jobs will provide a huge boost to communities across the UK and as they are a mixture of full and part time positions there will be an opportunity suitable for everyone.
"We recognise the importance of doing more than simply creating jobs, and this is why we are committed to providing our colleagues with an unrivalled range of training and development opportunities such as our award winning apprenticeship programme and industry leading scheme for graduates.
"We have recently become the first ever food retailer to be awarded Gold status by Investors in People so I am proud that Sainsbury's is renowned as a great place to work. I look forward to welcoming my new colleagues to our stores."
The 20,000 new jobs are in addition to the 13,000 jobs Sainsbury's has created in the last two years.
