A man has been arrested following a robbery at a social club in Newcastle.
At just before 10.40pm, on Sunday, August 21, police received a report of a man armed with a samurai sword having attended St Josephs Social Club, on Armstrong Road.
He threatened staff and customers before making off with a quantity of cash from the till. No-one was injured as a result of the incident.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He is currently being interviewed by police.
Acting Detective Inspector Michelle Robson, from Newcastle CID, said: "Thankfully no-one was hurt as a result of this incident, however those in the club were left incredibly shaken.
"I'd like to reassure people that we have made an arrest in connection with the incident.
"I'd urge anyone with information to contact us as they may be able to assist with the investigation."
