On Saturday 8 September BBC Cymru Wales, in collaboration with Caerphilly County Borough Council, will entertain the promenaders at Owain Glyndŵr Playing Fields, with a magical-themed Prom. Joining the UK-wide revelry of the Last Night of the Proms, the enchanting evening will be led by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales adding their musical fairy dust to the celebrations. BBC Cymru Wales Director, Rhodri Talfan Davies said: “BBC Proms in the Park is an important occasion in our diary and I’m pleased that it will take place in the shadow of Caerphilly's magnificent medieval castle. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales performs across Wales and beyond, and I’m certain they will light up the stage with a memorable evening of music. We’ll be crossing our fingers for fine weather this year.” Anthony O'Sullivan, Chief Executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “We are honoured to have the opportunity to once again host this prestigious musical event here in Caerphilly. I am confident that visitors to the BBC Proms in the Park will receive a very warm Caerphilly welcome this year.” Joining in with the summer festivities - families and music enthusiasts are invited to conjure up picnics and wave flags to bring the world-famous BBC Proms season to a close. The evening will culminate with fireworks and the traditional last night medley of sing-a-long numbers.The full line-up of artists and presenters will be announced over the next few months.
