Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash in Houghton, Sunderland.
The crash took place at 11.49pm on Saturday May 23 at the junction of Waggs Lane and Hangmans Lane , Warden Law.
A 24 year-old male motorcyclist collided with a metal barrier and was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with what are described as life threatening injuries.
The road was closed for three hours whilst investigation work was carried out.
Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Motor Patrols in Sunderland on 03456 043 043, ext. 66747.
