Teenager suffers facial injuries after assault

Police are appealing for information after an assault in Newcastle.
At around 2.20am on Tuesday, 17 August, a 16-year-old youth was assaulted outside the Coop store, next to The Gate complex, in Newgate Street.
The teenager and the offender had been talking to each other in the street, and after about 10 minutes he was struck twice in the face. The offender is described as being about 30-years-old and around six feet tall. He was wearing a pink short-sleeved polo shirt and jeans.
Police are particularly keen to speak to a group of men and women who were with the offender at the time of the assault.
The injured youth, who suffered a broken jaw as a result of the attack was taken to Newcastle General for surgery.
