M25 Junction 16 to Junction 23Work to widen the M25 from three lanes to four between junctions 16 and 23 continues this week. Work is underway between junctions 21a for the M1 and 23 for the A1(M). From 19 September for approximately 10 nights, overnight work will take place to adjust the road layout through the road works, and re-arrange the contraflow lanes. Following the adjustment there will be no exit from lane 3 anti-clockwise to junction 22. Drivers should remain in lanes 1 and 2 to access this exit. There will no longer be restrictions for exits from the clockwise carriageway. A 50mph speed restriction is in place operating 24 hours a day. A free recovery service is available.M25 Junction 27 to Junction 30Work to widen the M25 from three lanes to four between junctions 27 and 30 continues this week. Work is underway on the final phase of the widening, between Junctions 29 and 30. Three narrow lanes will be available in each direction between junctions 29 and 30 during busy times, with off-peak lane closures as required, mostly overnight. All lanes go through to the Dartford Crossing, but to exit at junction 30 drivers need to be in either lane 1 or lane 2. Drivers using lane 3 through the contraflow will not be able to leave the motorway at junction 30 and will have to go straight through to the Dartford river crossing. A 50mph speed restriction is in place operating 24 hours a day. A free recovery service is available.M25 Cobham Motorway Service AreaWork to build the slip roads which will serve a new motorway service area near junction 10 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph limit are in place on both sides of the road, enforced by average speed cameras. M1 Deans Brook ViaductPermanent repairs to M1 Deans Brook Viaduct, which was damaged by fire earlier this year, are being carried out this week and are expected to be completed by Christmas. To carry out the work safely and as quickly as possible, one lane in each direction will be closed, with a 50mph speed limit. Overnight, when traffic flows are at their lowest, two lanes each way will be closed. Work starts on the southbound carriageway this week, and will extend to the northbound carriageway early in October. Occasional carriageway closures will also be required, which will be published in this bulletin. The restrictions should be lifted by the end of October, with work then carrying on underneath the motorway.
