Direct access to savings on thousands of nearly new and used cars … with 2,000 Tesco Clubcard Points

It may be the hard sell, the haggling or just the hassle of finding a trustworthy used-car dealer – but tens of thousands of consumers complain to watchdog Consumer Direct every year about the service they get in the traditional motor market.
Tesco has analysed the top gripes in the sector – which is worth £24bn each year in the UK - and is confident that its latest offer for customers will provide consumers with a genuinely improved experience at www.TescoCars.com.
Andrew Higginson, CEO of Retailing Services at Tesco, said:
“Trust, value and service are at the heart of the Tesco Cars experience. We are offering a wide choice of the most popular models– from small hatchbacks to executive saloons to family-sized MPVs. Each and every vehicle will have passed a 167-point RAC inspection.
“By supplying directly to customers, there is no middle man, no expensive showroom and no salespeople on commission. Buyers can be sure they are getting the best value out there – and we will say ‘thank you’ with 2,000 Clubcard points.
“As well as offering great service and value, customers really can enjoy the most convenient car-buying experience in the sector. There’s no pressure, no hard sell. You can select and buy your car from the comfort of your own home and, just like your weekly shop, we will even deliver it to your front door.”
TescoCars.com will supply direct to customers using a bespoke web-based service with the following features:
Each vehicle must meet the Tesco Cars Standard. This means it must pass a 167-point independent RAC PLUS inspection including a ramp inspection and road test. Cars will have a clear HPI history check. Typically most cars will also have a service history. Each vehicle carries an RAC platinum warranty, free for the first month.
TescoCars.com offers dedicated after-sales support from a nationwide network of over 1,000 independent garages. These will offer servicing and vehicle repairs up to 30% cheaper than franchise dealers.
Sir Trevor Chinn, Chairman of Tesco Cars, added: ‘Consumers want to know they can trust the information supplied about a used car, that they are getting value for money and good customer service. Importantly they also want to be able to take their time to make the right purchase for them. We are delivering a positive new experience for today’s car buyer.
