The westbound carriageway of the A27 through the Crossbush junction is closed during the work, and a contraflow is in operation on the eastbound carriageway to keep the road open to traffic in both directions at all times. A temporary T-Junction controlled by temporary traffic lights is in place at the top of the interchange to allow traffic to go south onto the A284. Drivers on the northbound A284 seeking to join the eastbound A27 towards Worthing are being directed to continue on the westbound A27 and turn around at the Causeway roundabout. A suggested alternative route is also being signed on the A259 through Littlehampton. The contraflow will be removed for the Easter holiday. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys if they are using the Crossbush interchange, especially at peak times.A26 Quarry HillAn 18-tonne weight restriction is in place on the northbound A26 Quarry Hill Viaduct. The viaduct passes over the A21 and heads into Tonbridge from Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The restriction is a precautionary measure after routine inspections of the bridge identified that strengthening work may be needed in the future. The weight restriction will protect the integrity of the bridge while this is investigated further. All vehicles over 18 tonnes will be required to follow a short diversion via the A21 northbound to Morleys Interchange, where they will be directed to return on the southbound carriageway and enter Tonbridge using the southbound exit slip road at Vauxhall Lane Interchange. Bus operators and emergency services vehicles are still able to use the route. A23 Warninglid to Bolney Drainage ImprovementsDrainage improvement work continues this week on the A23 between Warninglid and Bolney in West Sussex, and is being carried out each night (Monday to Friday) between 8pm and 6am. Some overnight closures of entry or exit slip roads will be needed, for which fully signed diversion routes will be in place, directing drivers on the A23 via the nearest junction. Safety barriers will also be replaced as part of the work, requiring the closure of lane 3 of the A23 in each direction past the work site 24 hours a day whilst this phase of the work takes place. The lay-bys along the stretch of the road works on A23 will also be closed.Work is expected to be complete early in April and will be removed for the Easter holiday.M20 Mersham Lane bridge WaterproofingWork to replace waterproofing on the bridge carrying Mersham Lane over the M20, just south of junction 10 near Ashford in Kent, continues this week.Mersham Lane will be closed from 8pm on Friday 30 March until 6am on Monday 2 April, with a local diversion via Kingsford Street, Highfield Lane and the A20 Hythe Road. Wide vehicles will follow a separate diversion via Bower Road, Station Road and the A20 Hythe Road. There are no restrictions on the M20. A27 Beddingham to Firle CyclewayWork to build a new cycleway along the A27 between Beddingham and Firle in East Sussex continues this week. The cycleway will be built next to the eastbound carriageway; most work will be carried out away from the A27 to keep traffic restrictions to a minimum. However, there will be some off-peak restrictions, both daytime and overnight, including temporary traffic lights and a 40mph speed limit between Lacy’s Hill and Mill Lane junctions. Work is expected to be complete in May. Temporary traffic lights and lane closures are being removed for Easter, but other restrictions remain in place for safety because of nearby open excavations.A27 Upper Brighton Road Traffic Signal Pole ReplacementWork to relocate two traffic signal poles on the A27 Upper Brighton Road junction with Sompting Road, near the business park in Worthing, West Sussex, starts on Friday 30 March and is expected to be complete by Wednesday 4 April.
